What is a Cosigner vs Co-Borrower?
Adding a creditworthy individual with prime credit (720+ FICO) to your personal loan application reduces lender risk and can help you qualify for significantly lower APRs:
- Cosigner: Backs your loan application with their credit score and income, assuming 100% legal liability to repay the debt if you default, but has zero claim to the loan proceeds.
- Co-Borrower (Joint Loan): Shares equal ownership of the loan funds and equal responsibility for monthly installments from day one.
